A practical guide to trade licences, self-employment and business in Czechia

Free Downloads: Invoice Template and Checklist for the Self-Employed (2026)

See what's in the free download pack: an invoice template for non-VAT payers, a trade-licence setup checklist, and a guide to using them.

What's in the pack and why it's free

The starter pack contains the two documents most requested by people just starting out as self-employed (OSVČ): an invoice template for non-VAT payers and a trade-licence setup checklist. Both files are in PDF format and download with a single click — no e-mail address and no registration required.

The documents are free because we consider them basic kit that anyone just starting a business should have on hand. You can edit the invoice template in a PDF editor or, once converted, in a text editor; print the checklist, or use it as an interactive step-by-step overview in the how to set up a trade licence article.

We regularly check both templates against current legislation — most recently for 2026, when among other things the amount of advance payments for social and health insurance is also changing (see the overview in the OSVČ insurance section).

How to work with the invoice template

Fill in the downloaded template with your identification details (name, registered seat (sídlo) address, IČO (business ID number)), your customer's details, the invoice number, the issue date and the due date. As a non-VAT payer, you don't state a VAT rate or tax amount — instead add the line "Nejsem plátce DPH" ("I am not a VAT payer") to the invoice.

Before you send the invoice for the first time, check it with our invoice requirements validator — it verifies that none of the legally required items is missing from the document. An overview of the mandatory particulars of an accounting document is also available on the Financial Administration website.

Keep your invoice numbering in a single unbroken sequence, as described in the article on variable symbols and invoice numbering, so your records don't get muddled.

Frequently asked questions

Is downloading the documents really free?
Yes. You can download both the invoice template and the trade-licence setup checklist as PDFs for free, without entering an e-mail address or registering. Just click the button next to the relevant document and the file saves straight to your computer or phone.
Can I use the invoice template commercially?
Yes, that's exactly what it's for — issuing your own invoices as part of your OSVČ business, with no limit on the number of uses. Before sending it to a customer for the first time, fill in the mandatory details and verify them with our invoice requirements validator.
Do you update the documents to reflect current legislation?
Yes, we regularly review and update the templates — most recently for 2026. The invoice requirements themselves don't change; what mainly changes is the amount of the insurance advance payments — you'll find the current figures in the OSVČ insurance section.
