EET has been abolished since 2023

The electronic registration of sales (EET) was abolished as of 1 January 2023 (Act No. 458/2022 Coll.) — no self-employed person (OSVČ) is required to register sales electronically today. However, at the start of 2026 the Ministry of Finance submitted a proposal for a modernised EET 2.0 with a planned effective date of 1 January 2027; the legislation is still under discussion — check the current status with official sources (Tax Administration (Finanční správa), Ministry of Finance).

Frequently asked questions

Which invoicing software is free?
A free plan is offered by iDoklad, Fakturoid, Vyfakturuj and Caflou (Želva). It allows invoicing for a maximum of 5 customers; Fakturoid and Vyfakturuj additionally allow an unlimited number of invoices. Once you have more clients, a paid plan is required.
iDoklad or Fakturoid?
Fakturoid is the simpler and cheaper entry point (from 164 Kč/month on annual billing) and automatically calculates advance payments for social and health insurance — ideal for freelancers. iDoklad (from 187 Kč/month) has advanced stock management and stronger bank integrations, making it suitable for businesses dealing in goods.
Does a self-employed person (OSVČ) need a business account?
It is not required by law (exceptions include VAT payers, certain regulated professions and a business loan). Even so, it is worthwhile to keep business and personal money separate — at Fio banka and Air Bank you can maintain the account for free, and the account fees are tax-deductible.
What can Caflou do?
Caflou is not just invoicing software but a complete business management system — combining CRM, projects and tasks, cashflow and invoicing. For a solo self-employed person (OSVČ) who only needs to invoice, it is relatively expensive (from 379 Kč/month); it pays off for project-based businesses and small teams.
Do I have to register sales electronically (EET)?
No. The electronic registration of sales (EET) was abolished as of 1 January 2023. A proposal for EET 2.0 with a planned effective date from 2027 is being prepared, but for 2026 no registration obligation applies.
