How to change details

What to handle when changing or terminating

  1. Notify the trade licensing office (živnostenský úřad) of the change or termination by a change form / the Single Registration Form (JRF) — in person, via data box (datová schránka) or online through rzp.gov.cz → detail
  2. Notify the OSSZ (district social security office) — social insurance by the 8th day of the calendar month following the month of the change; failure to comply with the notification obligation carries a fine of up to 10 000 Kč
  3. Notify your health insurer within 8 days of terminating or suspending the activity
  4. Notify the tax office of the change of registration details within 15 days; a DPH (VAT) payer should consider cancelling the VAT registration
  5. After the year ends, file your tax return and the overview statements the income and expenses statements (přehled) for the OSSZ and your health insurer are due within 1 month of the tax return deadline — you settle any underpayment or overpayment of insurance contributions
  6. Archive your documents accounting records for 5 years, DPH (VAT) tax documents and annual financial statements for 10 years — this obligation continues even after the trade ceases

Handle it with a single filing

In the Single Registration Form (JRF / change form) you can tick a box so that the trade licensing office informs the tax office, the ČSSZ (Czech Social Security Administration) and your health insurer on your behalf all at once. However, you must keep an eye on the overview statements and any insurance contribution underpayments yourself.

Watch out for health insurance during suspension

After you suspend the trade, no one pays the insurance contributions for you automatically. If you are neither employed nor in a category for which the state pays the contributions (pensioners, students up to the age of 26, those on parental leave), you become a person without taxable income (OBZP) and pay 3 024 Kč per month (2026, 13.5 % of the minimum wage). Verify the current figure with your health insurer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I suspend a trade?
You notify the trade licensing office of the suspension using a change form — in person, via data box or online through rzp.gov.cz. It is free of charge. The operation is suspended on the day the notice is delivered or on a later date that you specify. Suspension cannot be applied retroactively.
How long can I suspend the trade for?
The law does not limit the length of the suspension — you can suspend it for a month or for several years. The suspension is notified for a fixed period, so in the notice you state until when you are suspending the trade. The exception is an authorisation issued for a fixed period, which cannot be suspended for longer than it itself lasts.
What do I have to pay while my trade is suspended?
You stop paying advance payments for social insurance from the month following the suspension. With health insurance, however, no one pays for you automatically — if you are neither employed nor insured by the state, you become a person without taxable income and pay 3 024 Kč per month (2026).
How do I cancel a trade and what do I deal with afterwards?
You file a notice of termination of the operation of the trade (free of charge) — the authorisation ceases on the day of delivery or on a later date. Afterwards you notify the OSSZ of the termination (by the 8th day of the next month) and your health insurer (within 8 days), notify the tax office within 15 days, file your tax return and overview statements, and continue to archive your documents.
By when do I have to report a change of registered seat?
You must notify the trade licensing office of a change of registered seat and other recorded details within 15 days of its occurrence and demonstrate the legal grounds for using the premises. If your registered seat is the same as your permanent residence and you have this link configured, the business address changes automatically when your residence changes.
