About this office

Úřad městské části Praha 21 – Živnostenský odbor (seat: Praha 9): one of the 227 municipal Trade Licensing Offices that process trade notifications in Czechia. For an in-person visit, use the office hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (exact time ranges differ by day — see the table above), with a lunch break in the schedule. An alternative to travelling to the office is an electronic trade notification (data box (datová schránka), Citizen Portal (Portál občana)) — it is 200 Kč cheaper than filing here in person. Praha: the municipal trade licensing agenda is handled by the offices of 22 city districts (Praha 1 to Praha 22) — this office is one of them and each has its own administrative district. The Magistrát stands above them as the regional Trade Licensing Office and does not accept notifications.

How to register your trade here

  1. When to go in person: You can visit in person: Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
  2. Fee: The fee for your first trade registration is 1,000 Kč at the counter, or 800 Kč for an electronic filing.
  3. Or skip the trip: You can also file electronically via a data box (datová schránka) or the Portál občana — www.rzp.gov.cz
  4. What happens next: If your notification meets the requirements, your licence takes effect on the day you file, and you will get the register extract within 5 working days. Full details are in the article Trade registration step by step.

Registering a trade — Hlavní město Praha

Hlavní město Praha has a special structure: the trade licensing agenda is not handled by municipal offices of neighbouring municipalities, but by departments of individual city districts — 22 offices in total — plus the magistrate department as the regional Trade Licensing Office. Unlike the rest of the country, municipal Trade Licensing Offices here are not created at municipalities with extended powers — the capital city has no ORP. Under § 1 of Act No. 570/1991 Coll., on Trade Licensing Offices, they are the trade licensing departments of the city district offices designated by the Statute of the Capital City of Prague; each handles the agenda for its own administrative district. Specifically, these are the offices of the city districts Praha 1 to Praha 22. Any of these offices can accept a trade notification regardless of where in the region (or outside it) you have permanent residence or registered seat (sídlo) — the law sets no local competence based on residence. You are not tied to your permanent residence or registered seat (sídlo) — any municipal Trade Licensing Office in the Czech Republic can accept the notification, even outside this region. Apart from an in-person visit, any Czech POINT contact point can also accept the filing and forward it to the competent Trade Licensing Office under § 72 of the Trade Licensing Act. Above the municipal offices stands the regional Trade Licensing Office — in this region it is Magistrát hlavního města Prahy – odbor živnostenský a občanskosprávní (seat: Praha 1). It is an appeal and methodological authority: it decides appeals against municipal office decisions and harmonises their practice, but it does not accept trade notifications themselves — for those, you turn to the municipal offices listed above. Electronic notification via a data box (datová schránka) or the Citizen Portal (Portál občana) is cheaper than filing in person — 800 Kč instead of 1,000 Kč — and does not require visiting any office in the region.

Frequently asked questions

Is this office a municipal or regional Trade Licensing Office?
This office is among the 227 municipal Trade Licensing Offices that actually accept and process trade notifications — unlike a regional office, which only supervises and decides appeals.
What public office hours does this office have?
For an in-person filing, allow for office hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (exact time ranges differ by day — see the table above); on some days the office has a lunch break. The precise and current schedule is in the office-hours table above on this page.
Can the notification be filed without travelling to this office?
The notification can also be filed electronically (data box (datová schránka), Citizen Portal (Portál občana)) for 800 Kč, which is 200 Kč less than an in-person filing — travelling to the office is therefore not mandatory.
What is the exact address of this office?
You will find the office at Staroklánovická 260, 190 16 Praha 9 — the map above on this page shows the precise location.
Why does Praha not have just one Trade Licensing Office?
Praha does not have one central municipal office — the agenda is handled by the trade licensing departments of the offices of 22 city districts, which is why the catalogue contains more Prague offices. The magistrate office stands above them as the regional Trade Licensing Office, meaning an appeal and methodological authority.
