Regional trade licensing office

Regional appellate and methodological body — you do not register your trade here. Where to file vs. where the office sits.

About this office

Krajský úřad Jihomoravského kraje – odbor správní a Krajský živnostenský úřad acts as an appeal and methodological authority for municipal Trade Licensing Offices in the region — a trade notification is not filed here. For an in-person visit, use the office hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (exact time ranges differ by day — see the table above). If you disagree with a municipal Trade Licensing Office decision, the appeal goes here; the trade notification itself belongs at a municipal office in the region. Brno: municipal Trade Licensing Offices are also based here — trade notifications themselves belong there, while this regional office decides appeals against their decisions.

How to register your trade here

  1. When to go in person: You can visit in person: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
  2. Fee: The fee for your first trade registration is 1,000 Kč at the counter, or 800 Kč for an electronic filing.
  3. What happens next: If your notification meets the requirements, your licence takes effect on the day you file, and you will get the register extract within 5 working days. Full details are in the article Trade registration step by step.

Registering a trade — Jihomoravský kraj

Jihomoravský kraj is among the larger regions: 21 municipal Trade Licensing Offices, with the regional office forming part of Krajský úřad Jihomoravského kraje in Brno. Municipal Trade Licensing Offices are established by law only at municipalities with extended powers (ORP) — not at every town hall, but at selected offices that also handle the agenda for surrounding municipalities in their administrative district. In this region, they are based specifically in these cities: Blansko, Boskovice, Brno, Bučovice, Břeclav, Hodonín, Hustopeče, Ivančice, Kuřim, Kyjov, Mikulov, Moravský Krumlov, Pohořelice, Rosice, Slavkov u Brna, Tišnov, Veselí nad Moravou, Vyškov, Znojmo, Židlochovice. Any of these offices can accept a trade notification regardless of where in the region (or outside it) you have permanent residence or registered seat (sídlo) — the law sets no local competence based on residence. You may also choose an office outside your place of permanent residence — for example closer to work or on your route — all municipal Trade Licensing Offices have the same authority to accept a notification. Apart from an in-person visit, any Czech POINT contact point can also accept the filing and forward it to the competent Trade Licensing Office under § 72 of the Trade Licensing Act. Above the municipal offices stands the regional Trade Licensing Office — in this region it is Krajský úřad Jihomoravského kraje – odbor správní a Krajský živnostenský úřad (seat: Brno). It is an appeal and methodological authority: it decides appeals against municipal office decisions and harmonises their practice, but it does not accept trade notifications themselves — for those, you turn to the municipal offices listed above. Anyone who does not want to travel can also notify a trade licence electronically — via a data box (datová schránka) or the Citizen Portal (Portál občana) for 800 Kč (an in-person filing at an office costs 1,000 Kč).

Frequently asked questions

Can I process a trade notification directly at this office?
No, this office serves as an appeal and methodological authority above the municipal Trade Licensing Offices in the region. You file the notification itself at one of the municipal offices, not here.
What public office hours does this office have?
For an in-person filing, allow for office hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (exact time ranges differ by day — see the table above). The precise and current schedule is in the office-hours table above on this page.
What is this regional office for if I cannot notify a trade licence there?
It serves as an appeal body above the municipal Trade Licensing Offices in the region and harmonises their practice. It does not process trade notifications — that belongs at a municipal office.
At what address will I find the office?
You will find the office at Cejl 530/73, 602 00 Brno — the map above on this page shows the precise location.
Does having several offices in the city mean I can choose any of them?
These offices each have their own territorial scope even though they are based in the same city — they are not duplicates. A trade notification is accepted by any municipal Trade Licensing Office in the Czech Republic regardless of residence, so you can choose.
