Regional trade licensing office

Regional appellate and methodological body — you do not register your trade here. Where to file vs. where the office sits.

About this office

Krajský úřad Kraje Vysočina – Oddělení právní a krajského živnostenského úřadu does not accept trade notifications — it is the superior appeal authority for municipal Trade Licensing Offices in the region. For an in-person visit, use the office hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (exact time ranges differ by day — see the table above). You file a trade notification at one of the municipal Trade Licensing Offices in the region — the list is in the region offices section on this page; filings are not accepted here. In the same city a municipal Trade Licensing Office is also based here — the notifications themselves belong there; this regional office stands above the region’s municipal offices as an appeal and methodological authority.

How to register your trade here

  1. When to go in person: You can visit in person: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
  2. Fee: The fee for your first trade registration is 1,000 Kč at the counter, or 800 Kč for an electronic filing.
  3. What happens next: If your notification meets the requirements, your licence takes effect on the day you file, and you will get the register extract within 5 working days. Full details are in the article Trade registration step by step.

Registering a trade — Kraj Vysočina

Kraj Vysočina has 15 municipal Trade Licensing Offices distributed across the region; the regional office is based in Jihlava. Municipal Trade Licensing Offices are established by law only at municipalities with extended powers (ORP) — not at every town hall, but at selected offices that also handle the agenda for surrounding municipalities in their administrative district. In this region, they are based specifically in these cities: Bystřice nad Pernštejnem, Chotěboř, Havlíčkův Brod, Humpolec, Jihlava, Moravské Budějovice, Nové Město na Moravě, Náměšť nad Oslavou, Pacov, Pelhřimov, Světlá nad Sázavou, Telč, Třebíč, Velké Meziříčí, Žďár nad Sázavou. Any of these offices can accept a trade notification regardless of where in the region (or outside it) you have permanent residence or registered seat (sídlo) — the law sets no local competence based on residence. You may also choose an office outside your place of permanent residence — for example closer to work or on your route — all municipal Trade Licensing Offices have the same authority to accept a notification. Apart from an in-person visit, any Czech POINT contact point can also accept the filing and forward it to the competent Trade Licensing Office under § 72 of the Trade Licensing Act. Above the municipal offices stands the regional Trade Licensing Office — in this region it is Krajský úřad Kraje Vysočina – Oddělení právní a krajského živnostenského úřadu (seat: Jihlava). It is an appeal and methodological authority: it decides appeals against municipal office decisions and harmonises their practice, but it does not accept trade notifications themselves — for those, you turn to the municipal offices listed above. Electronic notification via a data box (datová schránka) or the Citizen Portal (Portál občana) is cheaper than filing in person — 800 Kč instead of 1,000 Kč — and does not require visiting any office in the region.

Frequently asked questions

Can I process a trade notification directly at this office?
No, this office serves as an appeal and methodological authority above the municipal Trade Licensing Offices in the region. You file the notification itself at one of the municipal offices, not here.
What public office hours does this office have?
For an in-person filing, allow for office hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (exact time ranges differ by day — see the table above). The precise and current schedule is in the office-hours table above on this page.
What does the regional Trade Licensing Office do if it does not accept notifications?
It decides appeals against decisions of municipal Trade Licensing Offices and has a methodological role for offices in the region. You cannot process a direct trade notification there — it belongs at a municipal office.
What is the exact address of this office?
You will find the office at Žižkova 1882/57, 586 01 Jihlava — the map above on this page shows the precise location.
Does having several offices in the city mean I can choose any of them?
These offices each have their own territorial scope even though they are based in the same city — they are not duplicates. A trade notification is accepted by any municipal Trade Licensing Office in the Czech Republic regardless of residence, so you can choose.
